Darcy’s Bio
Darcy is currently the accordion half of the Fromage Chaud group. Along with Linda Kitchin, the Fromage Chaud duo has had a large number of performances together over the past few years in many different settings which have included bringing music to an Italian bistro, playing for a tango milonga evening, being invited to a Celtic music festival, playing alongside Bulgarian dancers for a concert performance, and even as musical guests during the Beakerhead festival.
Aside from these, Darcy has also founded other playing opportunities, such as Arthur Lapp and his Oktoberfest-style ensemble, the German Knights. Other past collaborations have included being part of the gipsy jazz-style group called Bow Djangos, with Take the Oy Train for many years with Florence Shustack as the band leader.

Along with those were other collaborations with a tango ensemble known as “Libertango”, as side performer with singer/songwriter Alex Boisselle, and sitting alongside quite a few other smaller groups . Even a Vietnamese wedding band is to be found in the past.
Darcy has also had a lot of music teaching experience that spans about 15 years, and is still currently teaching when the occasion arises.
Prior to that his studies in music started in his birthplace of Winnipeg at the age of 7, and has been playing the accordion ever since. Most of his musical training happened after moving to Calgary about 40 years ago, and among the highlights include Kiwanis music awards, which included a special invite to the Calgary Stampede shows.
He is still bringing his love for the accordion to many people that wouldn’t have imagined the range of musical styles and depth the accordion as an instrument has to offer.
